Fine vs. Smoothed

The OLS Instrument collects data with 0.55 km between pixel centers. Because of factors limiting the storage capacity on the satellite, a 5X5 pixel weighted average ("smoothing") is performed on board and that data recorded for global coverage. "Fine" data at 0.55 km resolution is retained for small regions.
